We finally got another day to sleep in a little!! ^_^ And in this hotel, I had my own little room all to myself!! Best combination ever!! ;)
After a little lunch in Sevilla, Our whole afternoon was spent on the bus to Portugal. I slept while Dad stared out the window and followed our journey on a map he'd brought with him. Haha!
When we finally got to Faro, Portugal, I was ready and excited! But, it turned out to be nothing like I'd expected. I'd been led to believe that Faro was a really pretty beach town... But it actually looked like a rundown ghost town, like one I'd have seen in Brazil. We made our way to our pension, and the tried to explore, but there just really wasn't anything TO explore, except for abandoned buildings that looked like at one time they were probably very beautiful, and uneven stone roads, that had been laid in a black and white pattern, but that were now eroding.
We ended up walking in a strange circle, in which we'd managed to find the water (but definitely no beach!), two streets close to each other named "Candido" and "Oliveira" (so cool!), a cute bar overlooking the water, and a restaurant called "Chelsea." Not too bad, considering... Haha!
Our mission had been to find a place to eat dinner, but every place we'd found had seemed pretty run down, itself... that, is, until the last one we came upon.
Holy man was the place we had dinner a find! Our waiter was super sweet and recommended we order the "Grilled Fish for Two," which turned out to consist of seven grilled fish, a bunch of shrimp and a bunch of baby muscles!!!! It was delicious, and sooooo much food! We also got a bottle of Portuguese wine, and finished the meal with a yummy glass of Portuguese port. Mmmm... Delicious! At one point in the meal, I mustered the courage to speak to our super cool waiter in Portuguese... And Lo and behold, we managed to have a great conversation!! ^_^ I was way impressed with myself. ;) As we left, he asked me in Portuguese to please come back to visit... And I really would have, had we not been leaving the next morning! That guy and his friend, who was the other waiter, were just so friendly and professional... But really adorable, too! And all of their speaking in Portuguese didn't hurt my impression of them, either. ;)
XOXO
