I set my alarm to 1:00 pm. It's a good thing, too, because I definitely hit the snooze button a few times! Ha! Normally I would be sleeping in on a Sunday, but my Spanish family had invited me home for lunch and I certainly was not about to miss it!
I did my hair in the cute new bow style I found on Pinterest yesterday (Adorable!),
threw on my lemon dress from last summer and walked to the bus stop to wait for the next one. A little while later I was at my Spanish family's casa, ringing the doorbell!
We had an "aperitivo" of potato chips and I had some vermouth (it's an oddly sweet drink for being alcoholic... I think I'm a fan). Lunch was pumpkin soup, salad and pork (I think?). Dessert was melon and brownie. Of course, tea followed, while watching Jurassic Park II, and a little later Cruz made us the equivalent of a frapuccino! Yum!
I didn't leave until just before 7:00 pm - it just felt so normal and so comfortable to be there! - and once I got back to my piso, I realized I really didn't have anything to do there, so I left for Calle Mayor in search of my first panuelo (fancy scarf - they're very popular here and make any outfit look gorgeous!). Up until a month or two ago, stores were always closed on Sundays in Madrid - even big grocery stores, etc.! It was actually weird for me to see shops open today, but I was glad they were, as I was craving a panuelo for my outfit for my second day of being an intern tomorrow!
It was an incredibly relaxing day - as most Sundays are here in Spain - and, I'm pretty sure, the first Sunday I've ever actually spent in Alcala while in Spain! Haha. :) It's nice to have one day of the week where, culturally, not a thing is expected of you. ;)
And now, to get lots of sleep to begin my first whole week in a real, professional job!
XOXO
